Last 8 Minutes From a Nigerian Wedding

For the ten of you who read this blog, my apologies for not being as active as usual. I have been working hard to clear out my ’06 weddings and that means putting aside the blog for a short time. I just finished another wedding with only one more ’06 to go so I thought I’d pop in and do a little update…..

One of the cool things about what I do is that from time to time, I get to learn a little bit about how different cultures celebrate weddings. I had one such opportunity at Elizabeth and Bernard’s wedding a few months back. For their reception, they decided to honor Nigerian traditions such as the Breaking of the Kola Nut and the Money Dance. I had a great time telling their story and thought I’d share the last 8 minutes with you. Enjoy!

The Power of Music

Martin Scorcese once said that music is emotional choreography and he is absolutely right. Sometimes it gets overlooked how much impact the right soundtrack can make to the emotional content of a movie. I remember as a kid I watched a making of special for “The Empire Strikes Back” where they show the scene where Han Solo gets frozen in carbonite without the music and then the same scene with the music. It was like night and day.

In that same spirit, I decided to upload an excerpt of a postceremony with the music track muted and the full clip with the music bed added…..

Post Ceremony without background music….

Now here’s the full clip with the only change being the inclusion of a music bed…..

Hope you enjoyed the clips!

Watson Videography Classic: Cynthia and Ken, November 2003

I was going through the archives one day and found this gem from 2003. Cynthia and Ken make their home in New York but decided to have their wedding here in Dallas. It was a great mix of cultures from Korean to Country Western as you’ll see in these clips!

“Supercharge Your Post-Production” Ugly Duckling Sale

This post is really for other videographers but if you’re a bride who is interested in seeing how sausage gets made, this might appeal to you as well.

I have this problem. I brought too many copies of “Supercharge Your Post-Production” to the 4EG Conference back in January. This normally wouldn’t be a problem since I can repurpose those extra discs to be sold at the Pixel Pops store or the 4EVER Group store. The problem comes in the fact that my Epson R 220 printer broke that weekend and I had to settle for very plain titling on the discs and no inserts (just a slim jewel case). This is a long way of saying that if you don’t mind an ugly package, you can get a great deal on my latest training DVD.

The video will retail for around $120 but you can pick up one  at the ugly duckling rate of $90. I only have 11 of these left so please get in touch with me at dynamotv@yahoo.com if interested and I’ll send you all the payment info.

Home Movies!

This past Friday I took my two aunts and my nephew out on the town. We went to my favorite Sushi Spot, Tokyo Cafe, for some awesome Japanese food, the Ft. Worth Zoo, and we had some BBQ at Riscky’s right in the middle of the world famous Stock Yards. Here’s the video!

On their last night, my aunts took all of us out to the best restaurant in Ft. Worth: The Reata. You haven’t lived until you’ve had their Ribeye! It was great seeing my Northern relatives and can’t wait to make the trip up to see them.
